It
was my honor to speak about my new book and the topic
of The
Sephardic Anousim at Kehila
Kedosha Janina, a Romaniote synagogue on the
Lower East Side of New York City. Kehila Kedosha
Janina holds the distinction of being the only Romaniote
synagogue in the Western Hemisphere. The congregation
was founded in 1906 by Greek Jewish immigrants from
Janina (Ioannina). The synagogue is an official New
York landmark but also a functioning orthodox synagogue.
I recommend visiting them on a Sunday afternoon for
a fascinating free tour and discussion.
